Happy New Year!! 2012 was an absolutely mental year for me. As well as having a little bouncing baby boy, we decided to move house too, just 2 weeks before christmas – although not quite our choice due to the whole buying process.I don’t recommend it, no, don’t try it… especially with a 6 month old baby…. and a cat.
Anyway, back to the artwork. This piece was a slightly different direction for me in the sense that I usually keep things quite simple. This however took ages to be honest, mainly due to baby distractions, but also the fact that I kept looking at it and thinking it wasn’t quite what I had planned to do. I reverted back to the simple typography message a couple of times but then thought sod it, I’ll go for it… and I’m pleased with the finished artwork.
The decorative elements of the image are made up of various shapes and symbols that are quite common throughout my artwork. A lot of the curls and flicks are also parts of the font I used, coupled with nice swirly shapes and leaves. And barbed wire of course.
Would like to get these printed up to A2 prints on some nice paper, would look cracking as a t-shirt print too but may need to rethink the colours a little. Lots of other little things planned for this year so keep ’em peeled and see what I have in store!!
